« The best and only way to kick off summer, devouring The Last Guy and then doing it all over again because it’s just that good. » ~#1 NYT Bestselling Author Rachel Van Dyken

From Wall Street Journal bestselling author Ilsa Madden-Mills and international bestselling author Tia Louise…

The first rule of office romance is don’t do it—especially if your dream is to hold the anchor spot on the nightly news and your boss is trying to get you fired.

But one look at Cade Hill, the sexy new sports director, and uptight reporter Rebecca Fieldstone is daydreaming about other things.

Sex in his office…
Sex in the on-set kitchen…
Sex in the supply closet…

She can’t stop thinking about the former NFL quarterback and how perfect he’d look between her sheets—except he’s an arrogant jerk with a huge… ego.

He’s the last guy she’d ever have a one-night stand with.

Cade Hill draws a thick professional line on office romance—until it comes to the hyper-focused Rebecca. He wants her, and he gets his wish when a chance encounter has them having the hottest sex of their lives.

It’s just a hook-up, she says.
When can we do it again? he says.

With Rebecca determined to keep Cade in the friend zone, it’s going to be an uphill battle for Cade to convince her he’s the last guy she’ll ever want.

The Last Guy is a Sports/Work place romance. This book combined two of my favourite romance genre, it couldn’t go wrong, right? I knew a little about Ilsa Madden-Mills’ work because I read Fake Fiancée earlier this year and also one book by Tia Louise, One to Hold. So I knew a little bit about their writing style, I wasn’t going into this book blind. So let’s talk about this book!

The Characters

Rebecca: She is a 28 years old journalist. Since the arrival of a young, beautiful co-worker she saw her favourite subject to work on taken by this girl. She is a hard working girl, wanted to land the weekend anchor job and doing everything to have this job. She lives in an appartment with one of her bestfriend Chas.

Cade: He is a 30 years old news sport director. He was a famous quarterback in the NFL but had to end his career because of a knee injury. He started working at the news station in Houston one year ago and really likes what he is doing. He is also very involved with kids from underprivileged school, helping them to play football but also raise money for them.

The Story (might countain little spoilers)

Cade and Rebecca met at the news station in Houston. Cade always had a thing for Rebecca, he liked to tease her. Rebecca, always thought that Cade was a jock and that he had his position because his father owned half of the city and because he was a famous footballer but not because of his journalistic capacity.
One night Rebecca’s friend Chas had a representation in a club and decided to take Rebecca with him. It’s in this club that everything started because she will meet Cade for the first timle outside of work. Cade is in the same club celebrated his brother’s birthday.  One shot led to another shot and after drinking they slept together. The next morning they decided to do like nothing happened the night before and that’s how Cade got friend-zoned by Rebecca. But obviously we won’t let that happened and their story starts really at that moment.

My thoughts

I think it’s the first time I read a book about journalists! And I loved it! I need to search more about them. It’s definitely one of my favourite workplace with lawyers ^^.

This story was SEXY like really sexy. It was an easy, fast, enjoyable read. I read the book in one day. I needed something uncomplicated and this book delivered. But it is more than just a sex book, there is a story behind with a police affair, office/promotion affair, there is really a story behind the romance. And for me, that’s what make this book even more enjoyable and a nice read for the summer when you are at the swimming pool.

I did enjoy the fact that the writing style was fluid and that you couldn’t tell which part was written by one author and the other part by the other author. Every time I read a book written by 2 authors I am always afraid to see a difference between the writing style making it weird to read.

Oh let’s not forget the humour! The humour was great in this book, there was some really funny scenes in there and a lot of Tacos because let’s be honest, these two things are life ^^

Anyway, I don’t know if it was their first book together and if they will write more book but I sure hope they will.

I was wondering, in the book we read about Eli Manning, Nancy and Hart, do they each have a book? I am so curious to know more about them!
