Lorelei James is a new author to me. I found her books While I was on Goodreads and the synopsis of the first book of the Need You series interested me. I am always happy to discover new authors and read most of their work when I really like one of their book and that’s what happened with Lorelei James.
Today I will do a mini review for the first three books of the Need You series (ahah who was I kidding with mini review? The reviews were quite long on their own, so I decided to post them separately. I will put the link to the others two reviews in each post if you are interested) . The fourth one, When I Need You, will be release on July 25th and I can’t wait! I know it will be the perfect read for this summer!
Title: What You Need (Need You #1)

Reviews for the next two books:
Book 2: Just What I Needed
Book 3: All You Need
New York Times bestseller Lorelei James introduces a new family for readers to fall in love with in the Need You series. The Lund name is synonymous with wealth and power in Minneapolis-St. Paul. But the four Lund siblings will each discover true love takes a course of its own…
As the CFO of Lund Industries, Brady Lund is the poster child for responsibility. But eighty hour work weeks leave him little time for a life outside his corner office. His brothers stage an intervention and drag him to a seedy night club…where he sees her, the buttoned up blonde from the secretarial pool who’s starred in his fantasies for months.
Lennox Greene is a woman with a rebellious past—which she carefully conceals beneath her conservative clothes. She knows flirting with her sexy, but aloof boss during working hours is a bad idea. So when Brady shows up at her favorite dive bar, sans his usual snappy suit, and catches her cutting loose, she throws caution aside and dares him to do the same.
After sparks fly, Brady finds keeping his hands off Lennox during office hours is harder than expected. While she makes him feel alive for the first time in years, a part of him wonders if she’s just using him to get ahead. And Lennox must figure out if Brady wants her for the accomplished woman she is—or the bad girl she was.
So obviously, What You Need was my first Lorelei James book. To be quite honest I enjoyed this book, I wasn’t the biggest fan of it but it was enjoyable and addictive.
In What You Need we are following Lennox and Brady. Brady is the oldest brother of a big family. He works for the family business. He is what you call a workaholic, working 70 hours a week, never taking time to go outside and find someone. He lived for his work. For ten month he was attracted to this blonde girl he knows nothing about except he loves her laugh. He doesn’t know her name nor in which department she works at until he met her at the « floaty » department (I think it was the terme, well, they are secretaries working where they are needed, they are attached to no department). One day his brothers and cousins (wasn’t kidding about the big family) took him in a bar to wake him up and make him promise that he will change. It’s in this bar that he will meet again Lennox and sparks will fly.
Lennox had a difficult past and a not so awesome family situation. She likes her job and does everything to keep it. While she is the « proper » Lennox at work, she has a rebellious past that no one at work knows. She knows how to cancel it under her work clothes. It’s when she met Brady at this bar, without her work clothes, that they story truly begins.
I really liked both characters, they were fine. I particularly liked Brady’s extended family. They are so many of them and at the beginning it was hard to know who was who. But I really hope that each family member will have a book, that after his last brother’s story we will have his cousins’, because I want Jaxson’s story! You know maybe a second chance at love with Lucy…
Anyway, the writing was good, I really liked the story. I had a weird feeling reading this book and all the series, each book are about 350-400 pages and a lot is going on in each book. It’s a really good thing and it’s like you have two book in one, nothing is dragged on, each things happening has a purpose. I am not the biggest fan of the « I’m not telling you a secret » and the « let’s take a break 50 pages before the end of the book » but it kind of works in these books and it was really addicting.
So while I really enjoyed this book, it wasn’t a favorite, I just had a good time and most of the time that’s what I want while reading so yeah good job with What You Need.
